UNDP Justice Sector Review Mission visits VCs

Justice Sector Review Mission team of UNDP Bangladesh witnessed an on-going trial session of a Village Court in Mohinondo Union of Sadar Upazila under Kishoreganj district on June 25, 2014.

Mission members discussed about village courts and its procedures with Mohinanda Union Chairman Mr. Nurul Huda and other UP Members prior to the VC session. Mission members have been informed about types of disputes dealt by VCs and linkage with District Courts in terms of having referrals. Mission members have appreciated services by village courts to ensure access to justice at a low cost and within a short time at rural level.

As Review Mission team member Ms. Antje Kraft and Ratoal Siddik conducted the visit while Mr. Rustom Pulatov, Ms. Mahmuda Afroj and Ms. Shahereen along with Md. Abul Kalam Azad, District Facilitator, AVCB Project of UNDP Bangladesh accompanied the team, during the visit.
