ICT-based DCMIE for VC

Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh Project organised the Orientation on ICT-based Decentralized Monitoring, Inspection and Evaluation (DCMIE) System with selected key stakeholders on August 20, 2014 at the AVCB Project Office in Gulshan.

The event was attended by Mr. KM Mozammel Hoq, Additional Secretary of LGD and NPD of AVCB Project as the Chair. Also present were five Deputy Director Local Government (DDLGs), seven Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs), 15 UP Chairmen and representatives from MIE Wing of Local Governance Division (LGD).

The project aims to strengthen monitoring, inspection and evaluation (MIE) Wing of LGD in regard to monitoring Village Courts performance while emphasising on strengthening the oversight capacity of the LGD. The Project extended technical assistance to the LGD and its monitoring and supervision functions. The support includes introducing web-based VCMIS with hardware and software installation to ensure effective monitoring from different level of government structures.

It will also develop system in the same areas where DCMIE System has been piloted in 15 unions of seven upazilas under five districts out of 14 project working districts. The participants were oriented on web-enabled database management and monitoring system for Village Courts for better documentation of the VC records and to have easy access from UP, Upazila, District and Ministry level as part of strengthening Decentralised MIE System.
The orientation was followed by the distribution of 28 sets of computer, UPS and printers among the participants of 15 UPs, 7 upazilas, 05 districts and MIE Wing (LGD).

Sarder M Asaduzzaman, Project Manager of AVCB Project facilitated discussions in the orientation session while Abu Taher Md. Zaber, Deputy Secretary of LGD spoke in the occasion.
