Reflections on Progress of DMIE

Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh (AVCB) Project organized a workshop on Reflections on Progress of Decentralized Monitoring, Inspection and Evaluation (DMIE) System on Village Courts at Officer’s Club, Dhaka on 16th February 2015.
The objective of the workshop was to reflect on the experience and learning on DMIE which has been piloting in 15 unions of seven upazilas under five districts since 2013 regarding monitoring of VC performance.

K M Mozammel Hoq, National Project Director, AVCB Project & Additional Secretary, LGD, MoLGRD&C inaugurated the workshop while Ms. Zuena Aziz, DG, Monitoring Inspection and Evaluation (MIE) Wing delivered her valuable speech on importance of DMIE system. The Additional Secretary said that the AVCB Project has already been emerged as a flagship project to the donors and two donors have already made their soft commitment to replicate it in wider areas of Bangladesh.

Two presentations- one on initiatives already taken by the project for piloting DMIE system and another one reflecting on the progress and lessons learnt during piloting the DMIE system were presented by Shamima Nargis, Joint Secretary, Local Govt. Division and Abul Kashem, Joint Secretary, MIE Wing respectively.

At the end of the workshop the participants recommended to replicate this decentralized system across the project areas to ensure wider participation of local administration including representatives of MIE Wing in monitoring of village court's performance. A total of 15 participants from MIE Wing and Ministry attended the workshop.
