Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh Prject holds Training on web based VCMIS system

From 15 September 2014, the Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh (AVCB) Project started the first batch of the residential training for UP Secretaries, Village Court Assistants, District Facilitator and Upazila Supervisor on Web-based Village Court Management Information System (VCMIS) at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) in Dhaka.

The objective of this four-day training is to enhance the skills of participants as field level users of basic computing and Web-based VCMIS so that data can be inserted, updated and reports can be generated regularly by these users. This training is expected to equip the respective key users in implementing the Web-based VCMIS which will be implemented as pilot in 27 locations (15 unions, 07 upazilas and 05 districts) of Bangladesh. The project is extending its technical assistance to the LGD for piloting Web-based VCMIS to ensure better VC record documentation and monitoring of village courts performance from different tiers of the government. In order to setup the Web-based VCMIS with necessary hardware and software installation, AVCB project meanwhile has distributed 28 sets of computer, UPS and printers in piloting areas. The project aims to replicate the system to other locations incorporating the lessons learned of this piloting. Sarder M Asaduzzaman, Project Coordinator, AVCB Project, UNDP inaugurated the training program. A total of 18 participants are attending this training program while the next batch is due from September 20-23, 2014.
